One of the better late-season nectar plants for a hot, dry bed.

Growing Notes

Full sun, sharp drainage, and no winter wet. Site it on the dry side of the garden. Space about 15 inches apart. It comes into its own in the second year once the root system is established.

Maintenance

Leave the stems standing over winter and cut back in late spring after new growth shows. Deadhead through the season. Do not mulch heavily over the crown, since that holds moisture exactly where it does damage.
